The past few days I have found that I have been on the wrong blogging and webpage platform for many years. WordPress is incredibly easy to use and also very powerful. I am using the Atahualpa theme which is very configurable but is not for someone without some experience with setting up blogging sites or websites. I have found it is also popular with other librarians.
I have also found an amazing group of fellow librarians using WordPress. After it was suggested by several people that I should set up a Facebook Group focused on WordPress and Librarians, I did so this past Monday. The WordPress and Librarians Facebook Group now has over 170 members. I have learned quite a bit about WordPress from the group in just three days.
Need hosting services? I use LISHosts.org run by Blake Carver and Sean Fitzpatrick. They provide great tech support and inexpensive services for those in the LIS professions. Blake just fixed an issue while he was on the road heading to a conference. He did it via his iPhone.
